How an Ejaculating Dildo Works: How to Fill and Use It

An ejaculating dildo, also called a squirting or cumming dildo, has a reservoir you fill with liquid and a channel that sprays it from the tip when you squeeze. Many models use a syringe or a separate bulb on a tube. In our Cannon, the pump is built into the balls and the channel running through the dildo, like a fake urethra, is the tube: you draw liquid in through the tip and spray it out of the tip, with one hand and no batteries.

What decides whether the toy lasts is the liquid you pick and how you rinse it. This guide covers how it works, how to fill it, what to put in it, what to avoid, and what to check before you buy one.

The short version
  • Fill: squeeze the balls, dip the tip in the liquid, release slowly.
  • Squirt: squeeze the balls again.
  • Liquid: water-based only. No sugar, honey, condensed milk or oils.
  • After use: empty and rinse right away, then dry it tip down. Full steps are in the cleaning guide.

The Cannon in three shots: the pump in the balls squeezed by hand and liquid coming out of the tip

The Cannon in three shots: pump squeezed, liquid leaving the tip.

How an ejaculating dildo works

There are three parts: the pump in the balls, the channel, and the opening at the tip. Only the pump moves. When you squeeze it, it pushes out whatever it holds. When you release it, it pulls in whatever is at the opening.

  1. Squeeze the balls and keep them squeezed.
  2. Dip the tip, which is the opening, into the liquid. A glass or a bowl works.
  3. Release your grip slowly. The pump fills and the liquid travels up the channel.
  4. Take the tip out, dry it, and squeeze the balls. The liquid sprays from the tip.

Spray strength depends on how you squeeze: a slow squeeze gives a soft stream, a firm one a shorter, faster burst. The first time, try it with water over the sink or in the shower so you know how hard to squeeze before you use it in bed.

Troubleshooting

Problem Most likely cause What to do
It sprays in bursts There is air in the channel Draw liquid in again and keep the tip submerged the whole time
It won't draw liquid in The tip isn't submerged, or you released too fast Submerge the tip fully and release slowly
The stream is weak or stops Liquid too thick, or residue in the channel Draw in warm water and spray until it runs clear; use less lube next time

What to put in an ejaculating dildo

On a model whose channel doesn't come apart, the liquid stays in the channel until you rinse it out. That's why a water-based liquid is the safest choice: it rinses away without scrubbing.

Liquid Verdict Why
Plain water Fine No residue. The spray is clear
Water with a little water-based lube Fine The stream gets thicker. Too much lube makes it hard to draw in and slow to rinse
Ready-made water-based fake cum Fine Check the label says water-based
Sugar, honey, condensed milk Avoid They turn sticky and can clog the tube if you don't rinse right away
Raw egg, fresh dairy Avoid You can't check what's left in the channel, and it can spoil
Oils and silicone-based lubes Avoid They can damage the silicone surface and are hard to rinse out

If you want a whiter, thicker liquid without risking the toy, see what to put in an ejaculating dildo: safe liquids and fake cum recipes.

How to use it, solo or with a partner

  • Suction cup: stick it to a smooth, non-porous surface such as tile, glass or the shower wall, and give it a tug to check it holds before you use it.
  • Fill before you start: the tip has to stay submerged to draw liquid in, so load it first and squirt when you want to.
  • In a harness: the Cannon is strap-on compatible. Fill it before you put it on.
  • Lube: use water-based lube on the dildo. At 2 in (5 cm) wide with 5.9 in (15 cm) insertable, it's a medium-to-large size, so take it slowly if you're new to this.
  • If you use it on different areas: use a fresh condom or wash it before moving from one to another.

Using it without the squirting feature

You can use it as a regular dildo. In that case we suggest a condom: body fluids stay out of the channel and cleaning afterwards is much quicker.

How to clean it

Clean it inside and out after every use. In short: draw in warm water with a little unscented mild soap, shake, let it sit for a few minutes, and spray everything out. Then rinse with clean water and let it dry tip down. Steps, temperatures and timing are in the full guide to cleaning an ejaculating dildo. For your other toys, the method changes with the material: how to clean sex toys by material.

Built-in pump or syringe: which design to pick

Built-in pump (like the Cannon) Separate syringe or bulb, with a tube
How you fill it Squeeze and draw liquid in through the tip Fill the syringe or bulb, then connect it to the tube
Parts to handle One More than one
Cleaning The channel doesn't come apart: water-based liquids and thorough rinsing The tube often detaches and can be washed separately

Check the material too: silicone is non-porous and cleans well, while TPE and some PVC can hold on to residue. If you want to use it hands-free, the suction cup needs to be strong. To compare other models, browse our realistic dildos, and our realistic dildo guide covers shape and size.

FAQ

Is a squirting dildo the same as an ejaculating dildo?

Yes. They're different names for the same kind of toy: a dildo with a reservoir and a channel that sprays liquid from the tip.

How do you fill an ejaculating dildo without a syringe?

With the Cannon you don't need one. Squeeze the balls, dip the tip in the liquid, and release slowly.

What can you put in an ejaculating dildo?

A water-based liquid: water, water with a little water-based lube, or a water-based fake cum. Avoid sugar, honey, condensed milk, oils and silicone-based lubes.

Can I use it as a regular dildo?

Yes. With a condom the channel stays clean and cleanup is faster.

Can I leave the liquid inside between uses?

No. Empty it and rinse it right away, because residue dries in the channel.

Why does it spray in bursts?

Usually there's air in the channel or the tip wasn't submerged while you were drawing liquid in. Draw it in again.

Is it harness compatible?

Yes, the Cannon is strap-on compatible. Fill it before you put it on.
